Dear resident,
In case you missed it, this week we've highlighted how fraudsters exploit trust through fraud:
Romance Fraud Fraudsters are constantly finding new ways to deceive people, whether through fake online relationships, convincing messages, phone calls or increasingly sophisticated technology. Staying informed about the tactics they use is one of the best ways to protect yourself and those around you.
Romance fraud remains a common threat, with criminals creating fake online profiles to build trust before asking for money or personal information. Be cautious of anyone you have only met online, especially if they avoid meeting in person or begin requesting financial support.

AI Fraud The rise of artificial intelligence has also given fraudsters new tools. Criminals can now create realistic images, clone voices and generate convincing emails or messages designed to impersonate trusted organisations, family members or friends. Before responding to an unexpected request, take a moment to stop and think: could this be a scam? Always verify requests using trusted contact details and never rely solely on a familiar voice, face or message as proof that someone is genuine.
When it comes to spotting scams, common warning signs include pressure to act quickly, requests for money or personal information, messages from unknown contacts, and offers that seem too good to be true.

Remember: If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts. Take time to verify information, seek advice from someone you trust, and report suspected fraud. A few moments of caution can help protect you, your finances and your personal information.
By staying alert, verifying information and reporting suspicious activity, we can all play a part in protecting ourselves and others. | ||
