PC Arrow was at Strawberry Fields, Row Town this week speaking with some of the residents. The team will also be doing joint patrols with the housing officer around the area soon. We will look to do some evening sessions in the near future for those at work during the day. We have let PA Housing know about the dell which needs to be fixed.
On Wednesday, 4 February we had the pleasure of awarding 23 Chief Constable Commendations. Officers, staff and members of the public were invited to celebrate their outstanding contribution to policing, at Loseley Park, where they were recognised for going above and beyond in acts of bravery and public service. Amongst these, we also had the opportunity to present a Society of the Protection of Life from Fire bronze medal - a first for the force. PC Jay Wakefield was awarded a Surrey Police Chief Constable's Commendation, Royal Humane Society award and Society for the Protection of Life from Fire Bronze Medal, for his exceptional courage and quick reaction to a serious road traffic collision. Witnessing a car collide head on with a skip lorry and catch fire, Jay acted without hesitation. With the damage to the car trapping the unconscious driver inside the vehicle, Jay battled thick smoke and intense heat to gain access from the passenger side, before pulling the driver over the centre console to administer first aid at the roadside. His response and control at the scene prevented a potentially fatal outcome. Another award, presented to a member of the public, illustrates the essence of community spirit and the Chief Constable's Commendation. In passing a collision and observing the suspect take off, this individual took it upon himself to pursue the individual for over three miles across difficult terrain, barbed wire and hedgerows. His actions displayed courage and determination and went far beyond what is expected from a member of the public, enabling officers to locate and arrest the driver who was later suspected of driving under the influence of cocaine. These are just two examples of exceptional work heard at the ceremony, filling the room with a deserving sense of achievement. We wish a huge congratulations to everyone who received an award and are truly grateful for their commitment to our communities.
Elmbridge Safer Neighbourhood team have been working hard to tackle the increase in counterfeit currency across the borough. Last week, officers executed a search warrant at an address in Hersham. This resulted in one arrest and a seizure of over £10,000 in counterfeit currency. The male arrested is currently on police bail while the investigation continues. This week, officers arrested and charged Adam Raine, 37 (06/08/1988) of Hersham with four counts of: Pass as genuine a thing knowing it was a counterfeit of currency note under the Forgery and Counterfeiting Act 1981. Raine has been charged and released on bail. He will appear at Staines Magistrates Court on the 27 March 2026. | ||
