Witness appeal following death of a man in Guildford |
||
|
We are appealing for information after a man's body was found in Guildford this morning (Friday, 9 January). Just after 7.15am, Surrey Police was called to Hazel Avenue by a member of the public who had discovered a man’s body outside a residential address. The investigation is in the early stages, and enquiries are ongoing to establish the identity of the man, believed to be aged between 20 and 50, and the circumstances surrounding his death. Hazel Avenue is currently closed between the junction with Lime Grove and Willow Way. We expect the area to be shut for some time and ask members of the public to respect the cordons in place. Detective Chief Inspector Mark Butterworth said: “I understand there will be a lot of concern about what has happened and we have a dedicated team of officers working hard to identify this man and establish the timeline of events that led to his death. “We are urgently appealing for information which could help our investigation. If you witnessed any suspicious activity in the Bellfields area overnight and into the early hours of this morning, please come forward. We’re encouraging local residents to check any doorbell camera or dashcam footage, and share anything that may help with police.” If you have any information that might assist our investigation, please get in touch quoting PR/0105 of 09/01 via: Webchat on the right hand side of our website: https://www.surrey.police.uk/ Our online reporting tool https://www.surrey.police.uk/tua/tell-us-about/cor/tell-us-about-existing-case-report/ Calling us on 101 If you do not wish to speak to police, you can call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111. | ||
