Last chance to have your say on police funding! |
||
|
It’s the last chance to have your say on whether you’d be prepared to pay a little extra to support our policing teams in the fight against crime in Surrey over the next year. Police and Crime Commissioner Lisa Townsend is inviting residents to fill in a brief survey on whether they would be willing to pay a little over £1 extra a month on an average council tax bill towards policing services in 2026/27. The survey only takes a couple of minutes to fill in, but you need to be quick – it closes at midnight this Monday (12 January). You can take part here: https://www.smartsurvey.co.uk/s/CouncilTax26/ The Commissioner says Surrey Police has made incredible strides over the last two years in tackling those issues important to the public. Burglary and vehicle crime rates are falling, police teams are cracking down on anti-social behaviour, charges for shoplifting have risen by over 400% and the overall charge rate has more than doubled in Surrey. Lisa said: “These improvements have been incredible. But in order to maintain and build on them over the coming year - adequate funding is essential to ensure our hard-working police force have the tools for the job. “I really value what our residents tell me and that is why I’m asking for a few minutes of your time to let me know what you think in my survey. “There is still time if you haven’t had a chance yet to fill it in yet but you need to be quick – it will close this Monday night.” | ||
