We are continuing to appeal for witnesses after a murder investigation was launched last night following the death of a man in Ewell. Police were called to The Wheatsheaf pub on Kingston Road around 3.30pm on Tuesday, 9 December following reports that a man with injuries consistent with a stabbing had been found in an alleyway next to the pub. Sadly, despite the best efforts of police, paramedics, and members of the public, a man in his 20s was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of kin have been informed and are being supported. Road closures and cordons were in place on Kingston Road and Chessington Road last night, but these have since been lifted. An investigation, led by the Surrey and Sussex Police Major Crime Team, is underway. Senior Investigating Officer, DCI Kimball Edey, said: “First of all, my thoughts are with the loved ones of the young man who has lost his life. “I know there has been concern and speculation in the local community about the events of yesterday afternoon, and I would like to thank residents for their patience and cooperation while we carry out our enquiries. “Our officers are working tirelessly to establish the circumstances that led to this sad death, and you will see an increased police presence in the area over the coming days as we seek to bring those responsible to justice. “We are continuing to appeal for anyone with information that might help our investigation to come forward. Were you in the area around Kingston Road between 3.20pm and 3.30pm yesterday afternoon? Do you have CCTV, dashcam, helmet cam, or mobile phone footage that may have captured all or part of this incident? Every piece of information, no matter how small, can be crucial.” If you can assist with our enquiries, please contact us quoting PR/45250148304 via: If you do not wish to speak to police, you can call independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
