We are appealing for witnesses following an attempted robbery in Egham. On Wednesday, 8 October, police were called to a report of three people attempting to steal a moped from a car park on Thorpe Lea Road, at 3.45pm. Three people attempted to steal a motorbike but were interrupted by the owner of the motorbike and other members of the public who ran into the car park. The four offenders then tried to flee the scene on mopeds and one of the offenders threatened the group of people with a machete. Officers were quickly on scene and thankfully, no one was injured. Detective Constable Amelia Dunwell said: “We understand this was a distressing incident for those involved and our team remained the area on Thursday to conduct reassurance patrols and speak to all those who witnessed the incident. “Our officers are working hard to carry out all lines of enquiry and apprehend those responsible. We’re appealing for information from anyone who may have seen the offenders before or after the offence.” The offenders are described as white males, around the age of 20 or younger with a skinny build. Two of the males were described as wearing balaclavas and the other male was wearing a visor. If have any information that could help our investigation, please contact us at quoting reference PR/45250122686.
