Did you witness a serious assault on Dorking High Street earlier today?
Officers were called to the area, between the junctions for Dene Street and The Chine, at around 2:30pm after receiving reports that a man had been assaulted. The victim has been taken to hospital with serious injuries to his head. The injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
A 23-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder. A 48-year-old woman from Dorking has been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender. Both remain in police custody at this time.
Detective Sergeant Leigh Wall said: “There are currently a number of officers in the local area while we carry out our enquiries. I understand that this may cause concern within the local community and I would like to reassure them that we do not currently believe there to be any threat to the wider public. We are keen to speak to anyone who may have been in the area at the time, who has any information that could help our investigation.”
