21 arrested as we crack down on drugs in our county

It’s been a busy one for us recently as we’ve upped the anti to tackle county lines in Surrey, arresting 21 people, seizing more than £30,000 cash, weapons, mobile phones, and a quantity of drugs including cocaine, cannabis, and crystal meth in a single week.

Determined to disrupt drug dealing activity and protect vulnerable people from exploitation, we visited hotels, schools and taxi firms who are often in heightened positions to spot the warning signs of child exploitation to encourage reporting.

Drugs portfolio lead, T/Detective Superintendent Jak Bowers said: “We know that drugs and drug related crime is something that our communities rate as a priority for us to deal with so we feel it’s important to let you know what we are doing to act on these concerns. County line holders operate 365 days of the year and likewise our focus on county lines isn’t limited to a single week, so we’ll be remaining proactive to make Surrey an impossible place for drug dealers to feel at home.

“We all have a part to play and ask you to remain vigilant to any suspicious activity that could be related to drug dealing or child exploitation and report it immediately. It’s making a difference.”
